30 Days in Proverbs

DAY 10 OF 30

Proverbs 10 opens with a simple but powerful truth: a wise son brings joy to his father, while a foolish one brings grief to his mother. It’s a reminder that wisdom begins in the everyday choices we make and that our actions ripple out, affecting the people we love most.

This chapter celebrates righteousness and virtuous living. In fact, the word “righteousness” shows up fourteen times in the ESV, showing how central it is to a life of blessing. The path of the righteous is marked by integrity, protection, and abundance, while the path of the wicked leads to deceit, trouble, and sorrow.

Proverbs 10 also highlights the importance of instruction and mentorship is a key part of this journey. I’ve been blessed with godly women who took me under their wings, sharpening my faith and holding me accountable in personal ways. I wouldn’t be who I am today without them—and neither will you. Take a moment to think about your own circle. Who influences your heart, your choices, and your walk with God?

The chapter touches on practical aspects of life too. Honest work, the power of our words, and a life aligned with God’s ways bring real blessing. Choices matter—not just for us, but for everyone we love and interact with. Righteous living is a shield that protects and provides, while wickedness is its own downfall.

Overall, the Proverb is both cautionary and encouraging. It reminds us that our actions, our words, and our willingness to receive instruction all matter. It points us toward wisdom, integrity, and virtue as the foundation for a life that is meaningful and fulfilling.

As you reflect on this chapter, consider your choices and the people who guide you. Embrace wisdom, walk in righteousness, and allow God’s truth to shape your life. Proverbs 10 invites you to live intentionally, knowing that a life lived in virtue and faithfulness is a life marked by honor, blessing, and purpose.

About this Plan

30 Days in Proverbs

Proverbs is one of the most practical books in the Bible. It’s not a list of promises to lean on, but principles to live by—wisdom for our words, our work, our relationships, and our choices. Over the next 30 days, we’ll walk through Proverbs one chapter at a time, uncovering what it looks like to live wisely in the everyday.
