FEAST: 30 Days of Real Truth for Real LifeSample

Day 10: Joshua and Caleb—Different
Snack
- Perspective changes everything.
- Like Joshua and Caleb’s were, your voice is important. Not everyone sees things like you do.
- Don’t be afraid to speak boldly in faith, even if others don’t want to listen. God honours courageous faith & action.
Appetiser
Have you ever spoken out on something you felt strongly about and felt that no one was behind what you were saying?
Main Course
When the spies returned from scouting the land, most of them were paralysed by fear. They reported giants, fortified cities, and obstacles too great to overcome. Their perspective was shaped by what they saw rather than by faith in what God had promised. Joshua and Caleb, however, saw the same land through a different lens. They acknowledged the challenges, but their conviction was rooted in God’s faithfulness:“We should go up and take possession of the land, for we can certainly do it” (Numbers 13:30 NIV).
It wasn’t an easy stance to take. Surrounded by voices of doubt, Joshua and Caleb chose courage over conformity. Their faith was not popular—the people even talked of stoning them (Numbers 14:10). But their example reminds us that being different in our outlook is sometimes exactly what obedience to God requires.
Fast forward forty years: Caleb stands before Joshua still full of faith. Though older in age, his spirit is as strong as it was the day he first scouted the land. He boldly asks for the hill country promised to him - land still inhabited by giants. Where others might have shrunk back, Caleb pressed forward, confident that God would be with him (Joshua 14:10–12 NIV).
What makes Joshua and Caleb different is not denial of reality, but defiant trust in God.Their eyes were fixed not on the size of the giants, but on the greatness of their God.
We live in a world that often highlights fear, risk, and impossibility. But like Joshua and Caleb, we are called to speak with a voice of faith. It may not always be welcomed, and it may set us apart, but courageous faith can shift the course of history. So when the voices of doubt grow loud, choose to see differently.
Hold fast to God’s promises and dare to declare, “With His help, we can certainly do it.”
