Day 12: Esther—Strategy

- God positions us with purpose.
- Strategy and courage go hand in hand when we walk in faith.
- Even when the stakes are high, our obedience can shift history.
Appetiser
Have you ever realised that your position or influence was about more than you at a certain moment—that it was for the sake of others?
Main Course
Esther’s journey from orphan to queen was no accident. Though her rise to the palace seemed unlikely, God had positioned her for a purpose far greater than she could have imagined. When Haman’s plot threatened the Jewish people, Esther’s place in the palace became pivotal.
Strategy mattered as much as courage. When Mordecai urged Esther to intercede with the king, she hesitated—approaching without invitation could mean death. Yet Mordecai’s words challenged her, “And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?” (Esther 4:14 NIV).
Esther didn’t rush recklessly into action. Instead, she called for prayer and fasting among her people (Esther 4:15–17). She knew she needed God’s wisdom as much as His courage. When the time came, she approached the king not with panic but with a carefully thought-out plan. Her strategic banquets opened the door for the truth to be revealed and justice to prevail.
Faith does not dismiss planning—it shapes it. Esther teaches us that trusting God includes being prayerful, wise, and discerning in how we act. Courage alone may start something, but strategy sustains it.
Her story reminds us that influence is never about self-preservation. Esther risked her own life to stand in the gap for her people. She stepped into danger fully aware of the cost, but also fully reliant on God’s favour.
In our own lives, we may not be standing before kings, but we are called to moments where courage and strategy meet. It could be speaking truth in love, standing up for justice, or simply choosing obedience when fear tempts us to stay silent. Like Esther, you may find yourself in a position “for such a time as this.”
Trust God’s placement, seek His wisdom, and walk forward with both courage and strategy.
