DAY 5 OF 5

Falling In Love with His Promises

The Bible teaches us that in God, the promises are a resounding "yes" and "amen." These promises are not just words; they represent His very essence, His breath, and are exalted above His name. Understanding and embracing these promises is essential for effective prayer.

Reading the Bible plays a pivotal role in prayer. It is through the Scriptures that we learn about the nature of God, how He deals with us, and the wisdom of God in action. In James 1:5, the call to ask for wisdom is significant. This wisdom, called Sophia in Greek, is not just knowledge but an understanding of how God interacts with humanity and creation.

When we pray God's wisdom, when we fall in love with His Word, we align ourselves with His patterns. We comprehend how God works, thinks, and sees situations. It enables us to measure our motives against His Word, character, and promises. You don't have to be a Bible scholar, knowing Hebrew or Greek; the key is simply falling in love with the Word.

Having conversations with God, wrapping yourself in the presence of His Word, and listening while He "monologues" make it easier to pray. A simple yet powerful way to pray is to open your Bible and read it aloud because God is His Word, and His Word is Him. All of it is God-breathed.

So, let's pray together: "Father, in the name of Jesus, help me to fall in love with your Word. I'm not seeking to sound smart or deep; I just want to know you. I want to understand how you work and operate. I desire to finish your sentences and know your thoughts at any given moment because I've spent time inside your monologues. Give me a heart, passion, and appetite for your written, preached, taught, and prophetic Word. I cry out for wisdom, knowing you will give it liberally without judgment. I put away all distractions and seek an authentic relationship with you. I want to fall in love with your promises, to know that in times of hardship, I am never alone. So, Lord, lead me into your promises and keep me there in Jesus' name. Amen."

Reflection:

These 5 days we moved all around the Bible, notice each day just the chapter is posted without the verse(s). This will help you develop a habit of reading the whole chapter. The chapter helps you to interpret the theme and helps introduce revelation that often is overlooked when pulling out a verse or a few verses–remember devotion is about relationship and understanding your partner. You are a partner of GOD when it comes to your life and destiny.

Commit to reading the whole chapter of Scripture every time you read your Bible. It is ok to use the translations of the Bible that are easier for you to understand. Explore other Bible Versions here on the Bible App.
