Blessed to Be a BlessingSample

Day 2 — The Pilgrim Faith of Abraham
Abraham’s journey shows us that blessing is not something we simply receive—it is something we walk into. When God spoke to him, the very first invitation was to leave what was familiar. Abraham had to release his land, his identity, and the security of everything he had known. He stepped out without knowing the destination, trusting that God would reveal the way one step at a time. Blessing often begins like this: with a quiet, courageous yes that moves us beyond comfort.
But leaving wasn’t the whole journey. Abraham also had to believe. God promised him a child, yet years—and then decades—passed without any sign of fulfillment. His body aged, Sarah’s womb remained barren, and every natural indicator suggested the promise had died. Yet Scripture says Abraham “grew strong in faith… fully convinced” that God would do what He said. The waiting room became the place where Abraham’s faith was forged.
And when the long-awaited promise finally came, Abraham faced the most painful invitation of all—surrender. God asked him to place Isaac, the child he loved, back on the altar. Abraham obeyed, trusting that God could even raise the boy from the dead. In surrender, Abraham discovered the deepest blessing: God’s provision, God’s faithfulness, and God’s unfolding purpose through his life.
Leaving, believing, and surrendering—this is the pilgrim faith that still leads us into blessing today.

About this Plan

This 7-day devotional invites you into the biblical vision of blessing — not as something you hold on to, but as something God longs to move through your life. From creation’s first blessing in Genesis to Abraham’s pilgrim faith, from the character Jesus forms in us to the calling to bless the nations, each day traces how God turns ordinary people into conduits of His goodness. Through Scripture, reflection, and simple practices, you’ll learn to live not as a reservoir but as a river, receiving from God and releasing His blessing into the world.
