Day 14: The Crowd Laughs at Jesus

There was a crowd mourning outside Jairus’s house. Jesus asked them, “Why are you crying? The girl is only sleeping!”

How do you think the crowd reacted? They knew that Jairus's daughter was dead. What could Jesus be saying?

The crowd laughed at Jesus, “What are you talking about? The girl’s dead, not sleeping!”

Jesus sent the crowd away. Why do you think he did this?

Jairus and his wife trusted in Jesus, so even though their daughter was dead, they brought Jesus to see her. Jesus took the girl’s hand and said to her, “Talitha koum!” (which means, “Get up little girl!”)

Can you guess what happened next?

The girl got up! Jairus was amazed! Jesus smiled and said, “Now give her some food, she’s hungry!”
