Day 10: An Urgent Message

One day, a message arrived from Jesus’ friends, Mary and Martha. It said: “Come quickly! Our brother Lazarus is sick!”

Why do you think Mary and Martha wrote to Jesus? What did they want him to do?

Jesus wasn’t worried, so he took his time. It was several days before he and his disciples reached Lazarus's home.

But when they finally arrived at Lazarus’s home, they realized something was wrong. Martha was crying…

What do you think was wrong?

Martha wailed, “You've come too late! Lazarus is dead! If you were here, Lazarus wouldn’t be dead!”

What were the disciples thinking? Do you think they were upset that they hadn't come faster?

Jesus said, “I am the resurrection and the life. Your brother will rise again. Do you believe me?” Martha nodded, “I believe you are the Son of God.”
