Children's Guide to the Miracles of JesusSample

Day 15: Jesus Loses a Friend
One day, while Jesus was teaching a crowd, he heard that his friend John the Baptist was dead.
How do you think Jesus felt? Do you think he wanted to keep teaching?
He didnt feel like teaching anymore. He sailed away to go to a quiet place.

Some of the crowd saw where Jesus boat was going. They raced along the shore to get there first.
Why did the crowd want to follow Jesus?
They ran so fast that they arrived first! Jesus saw how eager they were, so even though he was sad, he stopped to teach them and heal their sick.

Even though Jesus was feeling sad, he still taught the crowd. What does that tell you about Jesus? Would you help people even when you are feeling sad?
Before Jesus knew it, it was almost night time! His disciples said, You should send the crowd to the village for food or they wont have anything to eat.
But Jesus said, Dont send them away. You feed them. The disciples were shocked. But Jesus, they cried, there are 5000 people! How are we supposed to feed them all!?
Can you imagine how much food it would take to feed 5000 people? Where do you think Jesus wanted his disciples to get the food from?
