DAY 6: JESUS — THE BREAD OF LIFE
Study Scriptures:
Exodus 16:15 (NKJV)
“So when the children of Israel saw it, they said to one another, ‘What is it?’ For they did not know what it was. And Moses said to them, ‘This is the bread which the Lord has given you to eat.’”
John 6:35 (NKJV)
“And Jesus said to them, ‘I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst.’”
Matthew 4:4 (NLT)
“But Jesus told him, ‘No! The Scriptures say, “People do not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.”
Jesus is the Bread that satisfies the soul. The manna in the wilderness sustained Israel for a season, but Christ sustains us for eternity. His Word nourishes your spirit, strengthens your faith, and fills every empty place within you. When you feed on Him through prayer and Scripture, you never hunger for the world’s false satisfaction.
The Holy Spirit teaches you to depend on this living Bread daily. You don’t have to starve spiritually; you can feast on His Word and presence every day. Jesus is your sustenance, your strength, and your satisfaction.
Why this matters:
1. Jesus is the Living Bread – Just like bread gives physical life, Jesus gives spiritual life. He said, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me will never go hungry” (John 6:35). When you trust in Him, you’re fed with eternal nourishment.
2. Daily dependence– The Spirit teaches you to come to Jesus every day, not just once. Just as you eat meals daily, you need daily time in prayer, worship, and Scripture to stay spiritually strong.
3. Feasting on His Word – The Bible is where you “taste” Jesus. Reading, meditating, and applying Scripture fills your heart and mind, satisfying deep hunger.
4. Presence over religion – It’s not just about rules or rituals; it’s about experiencing Jesus’ real, living presence. When you worship, pray, or simply sit in silence, you encounter Him and are refreshed.
5. Strength and satisfaction – Jesus gives you the power to face challenges (strength) and the deep contentment that nothing else can give (satisfaction). He fills the emptiness that worldly things can’t.
How to practice this:
Morning prayer – Start the day asking Jesus to be your Bread, thanking Him for the spiritual food He gives.
Bible reading – Choose a verse or passage daily; think about how it speaks life to you.
Praise Worship – Sing or listen to songs that focus on Jesus’ love and provision.
Evening reflection – End the day thanking Him for the “meal” He provided through His Word and Spirit.
When you live this way, spiritual hunger disappears, and you walk each day full, strong, and satisfied in Him.
CONFESSION
Jesus, You are the Bread of Life. My soul is full because I live by every word that proceeds from Your mouth. I hunger only for You, and I am satisfied in Your presence.
PRAYER DECLARATION
Lord Jesus, thank You for being my daily bread. Feed me with Your truth and sustain my heart with Your Word. Holy Spirit, teach me to hunger for righteousness and not for the things that fade away. Let my spirit be nourished by Your presence and overflow with Your joy. Amen.
