DAY 3 OF 4

Day 3: The Fear of the Lord

Interpreting sight requires intimacy and intellectual humility; Scripture’s visions are often literal and metaphorical at once, so the fear of the Lord—not system-building—is wisdom’s beginning for me. Job’s debates chased tidy justice; God answered with Himself, re-centering wisdom as worshipful trust. In this posture, I began to see how a principality I call “Certainty” strings together identities online, hardening perspectives into statues that crush relationships while flattering our sense of being right.

When my sight stirred judgment, the Lord taught me a simple question: “Jesus, how do You see this person?” In a grocery aisle, an anxious woman stockpiling for a minor storm at first looked like fear’s cautionary tale; then I asked Jesus for His view and saw a faithful intercessor fighting for courage, loved by the Father who knows her whole journey. Compassion reset my conclusions, and my “right” assessment surrendered to His heart.

Humility also tests fruit: Does an interpretation increase love and dignity, moving from problem to presence, from diagnosis to discipleship? If not, I wait, repent of hurrying, and ask again until I can speak as a son rather than a critic. Spiritual authority deepens where confession is normal and compassion nonnegotiable; that’s the road I’m learning to stay on.

Practice today: Bring to mind someone recently judged in the heart; ask for Jesus’ perspective and wait until compassion rises, then speak and pray from that place.

Reflection

  • Where has “certainty” replaced dependence on the Spirit?
  • Who needs to be re-seen through Jesus’ eyes today?
  • What would change if fruit, not familiarity, became the test?

Prayer:

Lord, trade my certainty for worshipful wisdom. Jesus, teach me to see people as You do, until compassion resets my conclusions. Spirit, refine my interpretations so they carry Your freedom and fruit. Let humility make healing possible.

About this Plan

Through the Veil

In this four-day devotional plan, Blake Healy invites readers to see what he sees: glimpses of angels, spiritual structures, and the Father’s heart shaping every moment. As you read, you’ll learn a simple rhythm—to look for God’s nature first, dismantle inner empires, practice humble interpretation, and release love that actually transforms. Each devotional blends story, Scripture, and practice so spiritual sight becomes everyday discipleship, tuning hearts to Jesus and sending clean, compassionate arrows that land in love.
