DAY 4 OF 4

Day 4: More Than Enough Goodness

God’s goodness is the thread that undid me; it was more than enough in the face of trauma, and it confronted me as much as it comforted others. I once prayed for a severely wounded girl; in the Spirit, she appeared perfectly whole—not denial, but a revelation of goodness able to meet her pain with real comfort and strength—yet I felt I hadn’t released all that goodness because something in me still rationed love.

Later, I saw the perpetrator at the bottom of an inverted pyramid of generational sin; when I balked at goodness moving toward him, the Lord said, “That kind of goodness is the only kind that could have reached that girl.” Mercy does not erase justice; it reveals the Cross—costly love poured out while we were still sinners—and it calls me beyond compliance into transformation: “Teach me to become love.” The friction between my nature and Christ’s is where discipleship either deepens or stalls; I want it to deepen.

Practically, this means releasing clean arrows—truth carried by compassion—trusting that the goodness that confronts sin is the same goodness that heals the wounded and rehumanizes repentant offenders, while holding wise boundaries and honoring justice. God’s goodness is not sentimental; it is holy, just, and more than enough.

Ask today: Where have I rationed goodness—toward myself, an enemy, or a “hard case”? Repent of shrinking God to the size of my comfort, and consent again to the love that transforms both messenger and hearer.

Reflection Questions:

  • Where does God’s goodness still offend my sensibilities, and why?
  • How has withholding goodness limited ministry impact?
  • What boundaries and justice measures can coexist with radical mercy?

Prayer:

Father, expand my capacity to consent to Your goodness for every person and situation. Jesus, form a heart in me that loves victims and welcomes repentant sinners without compromise. Holy Spirit, cleanse my arrows and send them with compassion and power. Make me a faithful witness of Your more‑than‑enough goodness.

About this Plan

Through the Veil

In this four-day devotional plan, Blake Healy invites readers to see what he sees: glimpses of angels, spiritual structures, and the Father’s heart shaping every moment. As you read, you’ll learn a simple rhythm—to look for God’s nature first, dismantle inner empires, practice humble interpretation, and release love that actually transforms. Each devotional blends story, Scripture, and practice so spiritual sight becomes everyday discipleship, tuning hearts to Jesus and sending clean, compassionate arrows that land in love.
