DAY 3 - The Stoning of Stephen
Stephen became the first Martyr of the early Church and his final act was forgiveness. As stones struck his body, grace filled his heart and mercy filled his mouth. He prayed for the very people that killed him.
That kind of courage does not come from human strength. It comes from seeing Jesus clearly. Stephen saw Jesus standing, not seated, at the right hand of God.
That image alone tells us something beautiful. Jesus was on His feet to honour His servant's faithfulness.
The stones that were meant to silence him, instead preached a sermon for generations. His prayer, “Lord, don’t charge them with this sin,” echoes the words of his saviour, “Father, forgive them.”
No matter what stones are thrown your way, criticism, betrayal, or loss remember that heaven stands in your defense..
Forgiveness always speaks louder than vengeance.
REFLECTION
When do we pick up stones in the name of being right? Are we more like the crowd or like Stephen?
PRAYER
Jesus fill me with the same courage that Stephen had. Help me to forgive even when it costs me. When the world throws stones, let my heart stay fixed on you. Amen.

About this Plan

This four-day Easter devotional follows the theme of stones throughout Scripture, from the stone rolled away at the tomb, to the stones dropped at Jesus’ feet, to the stones that struck Stephen, and the stones that would cry out in praise. Each day is a simple, powerful reminder: judgment does not get the final word, Jesus does. If you’re ready to let go of accusation, embrace resurrection freedom, and live like the stone has truly been rolled away, this journey is for you.
