Stone Throwers

DAY 4 OF 4

DAY 4 - The Stones Cry Out

Jesus says this while people are praising Him as He enters Jerusalem.

The religious leaders are uncomfortable with the public display of worship. They want Him to quiet the crowd. Jesus replied, “If they keep quiet, the stones will cry out.”

Throughout scripture stones often appear in moments of judgement, punishment, or death. Sometimes stones are raised to wound and destroy. On this occasion Jesus gives stones a different assignment instead of being thrown in anger, He imagines them bursting forth into praise. The same objects once used to wound become symbols of worship. Scripture says that all of creation will praise and worship Him. Even the trees of the field will clap their hands.

REFLECTION

Where have you grown quiet toward God lately and what might it look like to offer Him sincere praise instead of silence?

PRAYER

Lord, don’t let a stone take my place. Awaken praise where I’ve grown silent. Give me boldness to worship even when it feels vulnerable. Let my life be a song that points back to you Amen.

About this Plan

Stone Throwers

This four-day Easter devotional follows the theme of stones throughout Scripture, from the stone rolled away at the tomb, to the stones dropped at Jesus’ feet, to the stones that struck Stephen, and the stones that would cry out in praise. Each day is a simple, powerful reminder: judgment does not get the final word, Jesus does. If you’re ready to let go of accusation, embrace resurrection freedom, and live like the stone has truly been rolled away, this journey is for you.
