New BeginningsSample

Small steps.
I have always liked the saying, "Small steps of faith lead us down great paths." So, even though the beginning may sometimes feel slow or involve small steps, I am sure that if we persevere with faith, we will go far, holding God's hand.
It is not unusual to talk about King David when we refer to starting from the bottom. In the story found in the book of 1 Samuel, David talks to King Saul and tells him how he defended his father's flock of sheep. It is almost unthinkable that a man of David's age—or any man, for that matter—could fight hand-to-hand with a bear or a lion and win.
To be honest, if I ever came face to face with such an animal, it would be the end of me. I can't imagine what David did to rescue every sheep that strayed from the flock. I can only trust that even in those moments God was with him, helping him.
For this reason, David could declare with authority: "...I come against you in the name of the Lord of Heaven's Armies, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. (1 Samuel 17:45 NLT)"
David knew who his God was. He knew what his faith in God could accomplish. That day David killed Goliath. And years later he became the king of Israel, a man after God's own heart!
And it all began in a lonely valley, in the midst of a flock of sheep, far from everyone, in secret. Do you see where I'm going with this? Keep taking steps of faith, because even though they may seem small, I assure you that they are worth so much to God.
