I AM... Secure

DAY 1 OF 5

The Foundation Beneath Everything

“The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge.” – Psalm 18:2 (NIV)

David wrote Psalm 18 after one of the most unsettled seasons of his life. He had been hunted, misrepresented, and left waiting for promises that seemed slow in coming. His circumstances gave him every reason to feel insecure. Yet what he reached for was not relief that things had improved. It was a description of God.

The Lord is my rock. Not was, and not will be once life settles down, but is.

David had learned something most of us are still learning: the steadiness we seek does not come from life cooperating. It comes from standing on something that does not move.

Many of us place our sense of security in things that are good but fragile. Health, relationships, financial stability, the feeling that life is going well.

When these things are present, we feel settled. When they are threatened, the ground shifts beneath us. This is what happens when we ask good things to carry more than they were meant to carry.

God offers a different kind of foundation.

Not a promise that difficulty will never come, but a place to stand that remains steady when it does. David’s confidence was built on the unchanging character of God, and that is where lasting security begins for you also.

Prayer

Lord, I confess that I often lean on things that can shift. Teach me to return to You as my foundation in ordinary days and difficult ones. When the ground feels uncertain, remind me that You do not move. Amen.

About this Plan

I AM... Secure

Security is something most of us spend enormous energy chasing, yet it always seems just out of reach. When circumstances shift, the ground beneath us shifts with them. This study invites you to explore a different kind of security, one that does not depend on life going well. Together, we will look at the unchanging character of God and discover the quiet stability that comes from standing on something that cannot move.
