DAY 3 – The Problem of False Worship
Scripture
“You worship what you do not know…” John 4:22 (ESV)
Devotion
Jesus exposes something sobering.
It is possible to worship and still be wrong.
The Samaritans were sincere, but their worship was not grounded in the full truth of God’s revelation. They had zeal, but not according to knowledge.
Jesus makes it clear that true worship requires rightly knowing God as He has revealed Himself.
“Salvation is from the Jews.” God’s saving revelation came through His covenant people and finds its fulfillment in Christ.
Sincerity is not enough. Passion is not enough. Tradition is not enough.
True worship is shaped by truth grounded in God’s revealed salvation.
If God is not known rightly, He cannot be worshiped rightly.
Application
Let God’s Word correct your understanding of Him. Refuse to build worship on assumption or feeling.
Prayer
Father, guard me from worship shaped by ignorance. Reveal Yourself to me through Your Word.
