Experiencing Healing PowerSample

“Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.” Hebrews 11:1 (ESV).
Before we address healing, we must understand a fundamental truth: God desires that every person be healed and live in the fullness of life. In the Bible, we see that Jesus, on the Cross, took upon Himself our infirmities, and “by His wounds we are healed“ (Isaiah 53:5).
Notice that the verb tense used is not future, but present. The text does not say “we will be" but “we are," because even hundreds of years before Jesus was born, God the Father had already declared this truth through the prophet Isaiah.
However, to experience the Lord’s healing power, there are truths we must understand and take hold of. Hebrews 11:1 shows us how to step into this reality that has already been made available to us.
In the first part of the verse, we read that faith is the assurance of things hoped for. There are at least two powerful truths here. First, faith is certainty. It’s not a mere possibility, not positive thinking, and certainly not just an expectation. Our faith must be as firm and steady as the ground beneath our feet. Second, we receive the things we hope for. Your hope in what God can do for you will determine what you receive.
The second part of this verse, though, can be challenging for us as human beings, yet absolutely essential. According to God’s Word, faith is the conviction of things not seen. I once heard a teacher say that not seeing the thing we hope for is the very substance we need to exercise our faith and witness God perform a miracle in our lives. Don’t wait to see it before you believe. “The righteous shall live by faith” (Romans 1:17).
If you desire to experience God’s supernatural power and receive the healing you long for, you must first let go of the need to understand spiritual things through a human perspective. No symptom, feeling, or circumstance can supersede God’s truth.
However, these things can keep you from believing firmly and taking hold of a reality already made available to you.
Starting tomorrow, we will look at examples from Scripture of ordinary people who experienced the Lord’s healing because they chose to believe beyond the reality they were facing. For now, I encourage you to set aside some time and pray, asking the Holy Spirit to reveal the Word to you so that your faith may be grounded entirely in the Truth.
