Experiencing Healing PowerSample

The power of bold faith in ordinary moments
In today’s passage, we read about a woman who was tormented by a disabling spirit for eighteen years, which left her bent over and unable to straighten up completely. I don’t know how long you have been facing the situation you are in right now or how long the person you have been interceding for has been going through this reality, but I believe that today is the day Jesus will transform that situation.
This text reveals a few realities, and the first one is that, even in that condition, the woman did not stop going to the synagogue—the place where they taught and read the Scriptures. Her circumstances did not keep her from remaining under the teaching of the Word of God.
And what about you? Have you been constant in seeking the Lord? Is the hardship you are enduring showing that you seek the Lord for who He is or for what He can do for you? Think about it.
Another reality we find in this text is that Jesus saw her and called her. We have many reports in the Gospels of people who drew Jesus’ attention. There is the account of a man who was brought to Jesus by his friends through the roof, and he was healed. We also read about the blind men who were sitting by the roadside, and when they heard that Jesus was passing by, they cried out, even after the crowd rebuked them, and they were healed. In yesterday’s devotional, we saw the healing of the woman with the issue of blood, who broke through every barrier and was healed by touching Jesus.
I could mention many miracles recorded in the Bible, but in today’s story, we see that the woman was not taken through the roof by her friends, nor did she scream or face death to touch Jesus’ garments. She didn’t display the same bold faith we see in other stories.
However, her boldness was expressed in doing something ordinary: hearing the Word. In the midst of an ordinary moment, Jesus saw her.
I hope hardships won’t keep you from living ordinary life boldly. Remember that boldness will not always be seen in grand gestures, but it will also show itself in the courage to live your daily life with faith, believing that transformation can come at any moment.
So keep going to church, attending your small group, praying, reading the Word, fasting, and speaking healing over your life or over someone else’s life. Keep going, because I believe Jesus can meet you on an ordinary day, like today, and transform your reality.
Some things are impossible for us, but possible for God. After all, with God all things are possible. I pray that He meets you on an ordinary day and transforms the situation you are facing.
