Experiencing Healing PowerSample

Only believe!
Before you continue, I encourage you to read Mark 5:21-43.
In today’s story, we see Jairus, one of the synagogue officials, coming to Jesus seeking healing for his daughter, who was dying. Perhaps, like Jairus, you are believing for someone else’s healing. Whoever it may be for, take heart. When we allow desperation to take over our hearts, it keeps us from walking in the kind of faith described in Hebrews 11:1.
As we follow Jairus’ story, we see that although he came to Jesus for his daughter’s healing, his request seems to be set aside because of another situation: the healing of the woman with the issue of blood. How would you feel if you were standing before Jesus in desperation, and He suddenly turned His attention to someone else? I believe that, like me, you might feel impatient, anxious, or even more desperate.
When Jesus stops and asks who touched Him, I can imagine what Jairus must have felt, knowing that while his daughter was dying, another situation had become the focus. Then, we read that people came from Jairus’ house saying his daughter had died. What must Jairus have felt and thought in that moment? Did he become angry at that woman or disappointed with Jesus? Scripture does not tell us. But what it does tell us is that Jesus, without being moved by that report, looked at Jairus and said, "Do not fear, only believe.”
Jairus could have given in to despair before Jesus when he received the news that his daughter was dead. However, none of the Gospel accounts show that he responded in unbelief or doubted what Jesus could do. Instead, he received Jesus’ words and chose to believe in spite of fear. And this led him to see with his own eyes what he had already believed in his heart: the Great Physician, right on time, bringing his daughter back to life.
If you have been waiting for a miracle from the Lord, keep believing. Don’t accept the lie that Jesus is late or that time is running out; He is never late. God’s timing is not our timing. Don’t let circumstances shake your faith. If you look around, you will see that God is still moving. And that is not a sign that you matter less or that your situation is less important. On the contrary, let these miracles remind you that He is closer than ever, and He is about to do the same in your life. Do not fear; only believe!
