LEAD RIGHT.

DAY 2 OF 14

Joshua – Courage in Transition

Transitions are a hard conversation all the time - even more so when the one you are taking up from was a great leader. Joshua is a powerful example of faithful leadership during a moment of transition. Having served Moses faithfully, he was called by God to step into the massive shoes of his mentor and lead the Israelites into the Promised Land—a daunting task requiring military precision, unwavering faith, and immense courage.

Joshua's leadership is defined by God's charge to him: "Be strong and courageous, because you will lead these people to inherit the land I swore to their ancestors to give them." God repeated this instruction several times. The weight of the past (leading millions through the wilderness) and the challenge of the future (conquering Canaan) could have easily paralysed him.

We learn from Joshua that true leadership stems from unwavering obedience to God's Word, not personal strength. God gave Joshua the 'blueprint' (the Law), and Joshua's success explicitly depended on his meditating on that Law day and night and carefully doing everything written in it (Joshua 1:8).

As leaders, we often face transitions—a new role, a new team, or a new challenge that feels too big. Like Joshua, our first response should not be fear, but a renewed commitment to the principles and commands of God that He has already given us. Courage isn't the absence of fear, but the decision to obey anyway, trusting that God, who gave the assignment, will also provide the victory.

About this Plan

LEAD RIGHT.

Leadership is a very interesting calling. It allows you to see what God wants for his people and, in the same breath, pushes you to learn a lot about yourself. I have found that God will work on the leader as he or she submits to Him.
