Deborah – The Leader Who Listened
Deborah's story presents a unique and powerful model of leadership. At a time when Israel was oppressed, and male leaders were hesitant, Deborah stepped forward. She was a prophetess, a judge, and a military strategist—the only woman in the Bible to hold all three roles simultaneously.
Deborah didn't seek power; she exercised the authority God had given her by faithfully delivering His word and rendering justice under the Palm of Deborah. Her faith was not passive. When God commanded military action through her (telling Barak to engage Sisera), she didn't just pass the message; she committed to going with him, declaring, "I will surely go with you" (Judges 4:9). Her presence was a necessary catalyst for timid leadership.
Reflection Point: True leaders are not defined by title or gender, but by obedience and willingness to step into the gap. Is there a place where God is asking you to lead, but you are hesitating? Like Deborah, rely on His direction and move forward in faith, knowing He will be with you.

About this Plan

Leadership is a very interesting calling. It allows you to see what God wants for his people and, in the same breath, pushes you to learn a lot about yourself. I have found that God will work on the leader as he or she submits to Him.
