LEAD RIGHT.

DAY 8 OF 14

Gideon – Leadership despite Weakness

Gideon's story offers a powerful perspective on leadership: God often chooses the least likely people to accomplish His greatest tasks. When the Angel of the Lord found Gideon, he was hiding in a winepress, threshing wheat to conceal it from the Midianites. His immediate response upon being called a "mighty man of valour" was to point out his weakness: "Oh Lord, how can I save Israel? Indeed my clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my father’s house" (Judges 6:15).

This moment perfectly illustrates a key lesson for every leader: True leadership begins not with self-confidence, but with God-confidence.

God didn't choose Gideon because he was strong, but because God intended to display His strength through Gideon's weakness. Gideon required two signs (the fleece tests) to confirm his calling, and yet God remained patient. Furthermore, God intentionally reduced Gideon's army from 32,000 to just 300 men. Why? So that Gideon and all of Israel would know that the victory belonged entirely to God (Judges 7:2).

About this Plan

LEAD RIGHT.

Leadership is a very interesting calling. It allows you to see what God wants for his people and, in the same breath, pushes you to learn a lot about yourself. I have found that God will work on the leader as he or she submits to Him.
