Jesus, the Healer
When a kid gets caught with their hand in the cookie jar, what is their first reaction? Hide. Shove it behind their back, cram it in their mouth, or consider dropping it on the floor for the dog. Hey, possession is nine-tenths of the law, right?
After humans chose to do things their own way instead of God's way, they immediately hid. They covered up their sin with more sin. Things had become such a mess in such a short amount of time, and they had no idea how to make it right again.
But God. But God said, "Where are you?" It was an invitation, not an accusation. From that moment on, God set into motion a plan to repair the damage done that day and restore humanity to a whole, unbroken relationship with Him. That plan came in the form of a person: Jesus. Out of His great love for us, He came down to the earth, died a sinner's death, though He himself never sinned, and on the third day he rose. The life he lived serves as an example of how to live out the beauty of our design. In doing so, He fixed what humanity had broken and created a way back to a close relationship with God. It is only through that relationship that we have the strength to live the beautiful human life we were designed for. This is life. Life to the fullest. No life hack required. Only Jesus.
Questions to pray on:
- When God asks Adam, "Where are you?" He already knows. Why do you think He asks anyway? What does that reveal about how God pursues you?
- Is there an area where you have been hiding from God rather than running toward Him? What would it take to stop hiding?
- How does truly understanding what Jesus did change the way you want to live, not out of obligation, but out of love?
About this Plan

What does it mean to live the life you were actually designed for? Not the life you have settled into, or stumbled through, but the one God had in mind when He made you? That's the question at the heart of this devotional. Over the next six days, we will walk through the story of who you are, how things went sideways, and how God has been working ever since to bring you back to the fullness of life He intended. The best part? You don't need a shortcut or a life hack. You just need to know your Designer.
