Day 20: The Welcome We've Already Received
Scripture: Ephesians 2:19 (NIV)
"Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God's people and also members of his household."
Before you were a follower of Jesus, you were a stranger to God's family. An outsider. Someone without a place at the table. And through Jesus, you were welcomed in. Not because you earned it. Not because you had the right background or the right credentials. Because of grace.
That's your story. You were the foreigner. And God welcomed you anyway.
Paul says you are no longer a stranger. You're a fellow citizen. A member of the household. You belong. Fully. Without condition.
And the natural response to that kind of welcome is to extend it to others. Not because you have to. Because you understand what it means to be let in when you had no right to expect it.
The way you treat immigrants, outsiders, and people who don't belong anywhere yet is a direct reflection of whether you've actually received the welcome God gave you. If you've been welcomed into God's family, you know what it feels like to be seen when you were invisible. To be included when you were on the outside. To be loved when you didn't deserve it.
That's the welcome you're called to give. Not out of obligation. Out of overflow.
You were a stranger. Now you're home. Go make room for someone else.
Reflect: How does remembering that you were once a stranger to God's family change the way you see people who are strangers in your world?
Today: Write down one way you were welcomed, by God or by people, when you didn't expect it. Let that memory shape how you treat someone who needs the same thing today.
