Day 5: You Don't Have to Carry It Alone
Scripture: Matthew 11:28–30 (NIV)
"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light."
Jesus says come. Not "get it together and then come." Not "figure out how to manage the pressure better and then come." Come. As you are. Weary and burdened and all of it.
The pressure you're carrying right now, the expectations from family, the academic stress, the social performance, the identity questions, Jesus isn't asking you to resolve all of that before you bring it to Him. He's asking you to bring it to Him so He can help you carry it.
A yoke in Jesus' time was a wooden frame that connected two animals so they could pull a load together. When Jesus says take my yoke, He's saying let's carry this together. You're not pulling alone. He's in it with you.
That doesn't mean the pressure disappears. It means you have help. It means the weight gets distributed. It means you're not white-knuckling your way through life on your own strength.
The rest Jesus offers isn't the absence of hard things. It's the presence of someone strong enough to help you through them. And that changes everything about how you face the pressure.
Reflect: What's the heaviest pressure you're carrying right now that you've been trying to handle alone? What would it look like to actually let Jesus into it?
Today: Bring the heaviest thing to Jesus today. Not a polished prayer. Just honest words. Tell Him what you're carrying and ask Him to help you carry it.
