Day 10: You Were Made for This
Scripture: Genesis 2:18 (NIV)
"The Lord God said, 'It is not good for man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.'"
This is the first thing in all of creation that God called "not good." Not sin. Not rebellion. Aloneness.
Before anything went wrong, before the fall, before any of the brokenness that came later, God looked at a human being alone and said: this isn't right. This isn't how it's supposed to be.
That means your longing for connection isn't a weakness. It's not neediness. It's not something to be ashamed of or managed or pushed down. It's the way God wired you. You were designed for relationship. The desire to be known and to belong is built into what it means to be human.
So when you feel lonely, you're not feeling something strange. You're feeling the gap between how things are and how God designed them to be. And that gap is real. It's painful. And it's okay to name it.
But it also means God isn't surprised by your loneliness. He built the need for connection into you, which means He takes it seriously. He's not going to tell you to just get over it. He's going to work to fill it, through community, through His presence, through the people He places in your life.
You were made for connection. And the God who made you that way is committed to providing it.
Reflect: How does it change things to know that your longing for connection is by design, not a flaw?
Today: Thank God for the people He's already placed in your life, even imperfect ones. Then ask Him to help you build deeper connection with at least one of them.
