DAY 17 OF 20

Day 17: The Gift You Didn't Earn

Scripture: Ecclesiastes 3:12–13 (NIV)
"I know that there is nothing better for people than to be happy and to do good while they live. That each of them may eat and drink, and find satisfaction in all their toil—this is the gift of God."

Satisfaction is a gift of God. Not something you manufacture. Not something you earn by being disciplined enough or spiritual enough. A gift.

That reframes everything. Because if satisfaction is a gift, then you can't chase it the way the world tells you to. You can't grind your way to it. You can't buy it. You can't find it by accumulating enough experiences or achievements or followers.

You receive it. From the one who gives it.

This is why the world's version of fun so often leaves people empty. It's built on the assumption that if you just find the right experience, the right high, the right moment, you'll finally feel satisfied. But satisfaction that comes from outside of God is always temporary. It fades. And then you need more.

The fun God offers is different because it's connected to the source of satisfaction itself. When you enjoy life in a way that's rooted in gratitude to God, in genuine connection with people, in alignment with who He made you to be, the satisfaction actually lasts. It doesn't leave you needing the next thing immediately.

That's not a restriction. That's an upgrade.

Reflect: Think about the last time you had fun that left you feeling genuinely full versus fun that left you feeling empty. What was different about the two?

Today: Before you do something for fun today, take ten seconds to invite God into it. Not to make it more serious. Just to include Him. See if it changes anything.
