Depending on your age, you will either remember or be introduced to the craze that took over our wrists in the 1990's: WWJD. The acronym stood for “What would Jesus do?”. It was meant to be a reminder for us to think about our actions when presented with life choices.

If you are like me, you may have that phase etched in your memory even if you don’t wear a WWJD bracelet (side note: I still do). Which leads me to a question for us to consider: What would Jesus do if He was presented with the hot topics of our day?

Would Jesus go to social media to state His case? Would He start another viral hashtag? Would He run for office to bring legislative change? I think most of us have asked some variation of this question. The only problem is it's the wrong one. The question we should be asking is WIJD “What is Jesus Doing?”.

If you look closely enough, you will see He’s doing the same thing He’s always been doing... staying in The Middle. He did it in John 8 with the woman caught in the act of adultery. He did on the mount called Calvary when He was crucified for our sins right smack dab in the middle of two criminals. And today He is currently seated at the right hand of the Father interceding for us. If you don’t know where that’s at, its in The Middle.

What is Jesus doing? He’s fighting for people. Being patient while covering our sin, and at the same time extending an invitation for us to join Him. People who are Made for the Middle gladly accept the challenge no matter how hard it could be.

Something to think about: Stand in the middle and pray for someone today, just like Jesus has been staying in the middle for you.

With so many hot-button issues causing divisiveness in our culture, many Christians are struggling to live out their faith. There is a way, says Micahn Carter. Jesus modeled it perfectly: He stood strong in the middle of tension and loved people outside of His comfort zone.
