River Valley Church SOAP - Part 5Sample

2 Samuel opens with the news of King Saul and his son Jonathan’s death. David and his men respond in deep grief at the news. Even in Saul’s death, David demonstrated his loyalty to God and his anointed king. Time passes and David seeks God for his next steps. He settles his family and army near Hebron where the people of Judah anoint him king of Judah, but he is not king over all of Israel... yet. Abner (commander of Israel’s army) comes to battle Joab (David’s commander). David’s army has Israel’s army on the run.
