River Valley Church SOAP - Part 5Sample

The tragic season of rebellion seemed to point to Absalom having succeeded in taking his father, David’s throne. After seeking counsel from his advisors, he gathered all of his fighting men and set out to defeat David completely. Again, God showed his care for David. His armies fended off the attack by Absalom and his troops. Though David should have been relieved to have his kingdom restored, his heart was deeply grieved at the loss of his son, Absalom; so grieved he wished he had been the one to die instead. His grief kept him from seeing God’s protection of his kingdom.
