River Valley Church SOAP - Part 5Sample

The book of Nehemiah is a first-person account of the Jewish return from Babylonian captivity. In these first two chapters, Nehemiah is burdened by the fact the city walls of Jerusalem were still in shambles. Nehemiah, a Jew himself, worked as the cupbearer to the Persian king, Artexerxes. Because of the favor of God, the king allowed Nehemiah to return to his home to help rebuild the beloved city of God. Along the way, the news of Nehemiah’s return became known to the enemies of Israel. They vowed to stop Nehemiah and the Jews from rebuilding their city, but God continued to grant Nehemiah and his people favor to begin the work ahead. Nehemiah’s grand mission is a testament to the favor and work of God behind the scenes in our lives to make a way where there appears to be no way.
