River Valley Church SOAP - Part 5Sample

Isaiah is a celebrated book for Christians because it offers the most comprehensive prophetic picture of Jesus Christ. These final chapters continue in that prophetic tradition by announcing the coming Kingdom, a Kingdom that includes both Jews and Gentiles. Isaiah 60 describes the coming Kingdom as one of marvelous light and joy, and it is led by the anointed Jesus. In fact, Jesus announces his earthly ministry in the gospels by quoting from Isaiah 61, familiar words to those of us who follow Jesus. “The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me. He will preach good tidings to the poor, proclaim liberty to the captives, comfort those who mourn.” This is the identity of our Savior!
