The Battle Within
After a big day, there’s nothing quite like binge-watching your favourite Netflix show. Although it feels good for a time, if you were to do it all day, every day, it wouldn’t be long before you started feeling worse and less motivated for even the most basic things! Even getting up for a drink of water becomes hard!
We often have the same battle between our feelings and our faith as Christians. The reality is, your body will always want to act in response to how you feel, regardless of what the consequences may be at times [Phil 2:3]. Becoming more like Jesus involves moving from being led by your feelings to being led by your faith. Submitting your understanding of right or wrong, and aligning with what God says is right or wrong (regardless of how it may make you feel).
Now it doesn’t mean ignoring your emotions. It’s important to still acknowledge how you feel. However, you're choosing to align your actions to the way God would act [1 Cor 11:1]. As you read your Bible, pray, attend church and do life alongside other Christians, you further your understanding of who God is. You will come to recognise that His Word holds more truth than your feelings often do.
PRAYER
Jesus, thank You that You understand my strengths and weaknesses. As I learn more about You, I pray that my desire to respond with faith grows and becomes more prominent in my life than my feelings. In Jesus' name, Amen.
