Parents and Kids Daily Devotional "A Place of Power"

DAY 15 OF 31

Have you ever seen a magic show? It is very cool, right? I remember a show that I watched as a kid when a bird magically flew out of an empty hat. It looked real, but it was nothing but an illusion and a magic trick.

Then, how about the Bible story of Jesus miraculously feeding 5,000 people with only five loaves of bread of 2 fish offered by a little boy? Was that also a magic trick, or was it the real deal? What are miracles anyway? Miracles are extraordinary works of God as He moves in a mysterious way displaying His supernatural power. God’s miracles are real, and they are still happening right now. They are different from the magic shows you see anywhere.

Today, we have learned that miracles can only happen if…

  1. We ask not out of our self-interest and selfishness.
  2. We do our part, such as praying, surrendering, focusing our eyes on God, and fully trusting God to act according to His ways.
  3. God is willing. It has to happen according to His time and purpose. The end purpose is not for our benefit and selfish desires but to glorify the name of the Lord.
  4. We surrender everything into His mighty and powerful hands. Remember that we can’t dictate to God what He should or shouldn’t do.
  5. Above all else, we have to trust in His sovereignty over our lives.

Devotion for Parents
As adults, we are often confused between our needs and our wants. We need to realize that what’s more important is not to chase after God’s miracles but to put our faith in Him, .focus on His promises, and trust the process. We need to be sure that God knows what’s best for us.

Devotion for Kids
Name some extraordinary events that have happened in your life. Then, discuss with your parents whether those events would be considered miracles.

Family Devotion Time
Are you expecting a miracle to happen as a family? What kind of miracle is it?

Start praying about it.

Remember that God will answer your prayers according to His plan and purpose.

Power! A thing that is desired by all humans, even though human power is limited. On the other hand, our God, who is the source of all power, is eager to pour out His power for all of us. The question is, how do we receive it? This devotional will invite all of us, both parents and children, to understand how to activate God's power in our lives.
