Parents and Kids Daily Devotional "A Place of Power"Sample
There was one time when my dad had a heart attack. We were at home when mom started screaming for help as she saw my dad faint on the floor. With much effort, we carried dad to the car, and my husband started speeding to the hospital.
In panic and fear, I felt like I had lost hope. I couldn’t say a single prayer. I cried, calling out to my dad and saying, “Jesus, help,” repeatedly.
Once we arrived at the hospital, the doctor quickly attended to Dad, and I heard a little voice in my heart that said, “Call your brother and pray with him. There’s still hope in God.” My brother lived overseas at that time, but we managed to pray via video call, thanks to technology. I asked him to pray with me with tears running down my cheeks.
I showed my brother the sight of our dad on my phone screen as he lay on the hospital bed, being attended by the doctor and nurses. We prayed together. Slowly, hope renewed my heart. Suddenly, I heard Dad take a deep breath and blow out some air after having difficulty breathing. Then and there, I knew that God’s miracle had happened in our family.
Every time you feel that hope is lost, when your feet tremble, when the wind is so strong, and you know you will fall, focus your heart on Jesus, pray and give hope one more chance. God is a faithful God. He will help you.
Devotion for Parents
I don’t know what you are struggling with today, but I can say that your hope in God will not be in vain. Keep believing in His faithfulness, praying, and hoping upon the Lord.
Devotion for Kids
Our problems as kids may not be as big or complicated as our parents’. Our parents often keep their problems to themselves because they do not want to burden us with them.
Do you know what you can do to help them? Yes, keep praying for them. Again and again. Pray until a miracle happens. Never stop putting your hope in God.
Family Devotion Time
Have a game night with the family.
Each family member says a word related to the word spoken by the person before them.
If one person has no idea what to say, he/she is given one chance to seek help, and you may continue with the game.
The winner will be the person who can do it till the end.
You learn that by keeping our hope in God, we will be able to stand firm in all circumstances, even when things get hard. Humans may fail to help us, but God will not disappoint.
