Queen Me - Exclusive Devotional by Wendy PerezSample

Day 1: Stop Waiting, Start Reigning
“But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.” (1 Peter 2:9)
In a world where social pressures and expectations define so many aspects of our lives—ranging from our family roles to our professional endeavors—it’s easy to slip into a “princess culture,” where you wait for someone else’s validation before you take action. This mindset makes you believe you’re not enough unless a person “rescues” you, a partner confirms your worth, or the perfect situation magically appears. You might end up postponing dreams and goals, waiting for that “right moment” or for someone to say, “Go ahead—you have permission.”
However, the truth is that Jesus has already established your identity, and the Word of God reminds you that you’re not a princess waiting to be chosen—you’re already a queen, chosen by the King of kings. Ephesians 2:10 emphasizes this powerfully: “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” Your purpose does not require anyone else’s permission to be fulfilled; God formed you, positioned you, and equipped you with everything necessary to live out your calling with full authority and courage.
The difference between a “princess mentality” and a “queen mentality” isn’t about rejecting healthy relationships or the desire to be loved and cared for. Rather, it’s about the posture of your heart. A princess feels incomplete and waits for an external solution to make her whole; a queen knows she has already been made complete in Christ. She moves forward with grace and resolve because she’s confident that her worth can’t be negotiated or diminished by others’ opinions.
A powerful biblical example is the story of Esther. She didn’t settle for the privileged status of a “trophy queen,” but risked her life to intercede for her people. She could have remained silent, enjoying the benefits of palace life, yet she recognized that her throne wasn’t a reward for her beauty. It was a place of influence and responsibility for which God had specifically prepared her. This is the true essence of royalty according to God’s heart: not displaying power for its own sake, but serving faithfully, rooted in the awareness that we are beloved daughters called to make an eternal impact.
When you feel insecurity or fear trying to stop you, remember that a queen doesn’t need to continually prove who she is; she wears her authority with humility, but never abandons the calling God has entrusted to her. Also, remember that you aren’t “becoming” a queen—you already are one. Today is the day to stop waiting for the perfect circumstances and start reigning in the sphere of influence where God has placed you. There’s nothing arrogant about this; it’s an act of faith, a path of responsibility, and an opportunity to honor the Lord by showing the world how great the One who chose you truly is.
Reflection Questions:
- Which aspects of “princess culture” have subtly shaped the way you see yourself, your value, or your potential?
- In which situations do you feel most secure in your God-given identity? On the other hand, what triggers insecurity or doubt?
- If you fully embraced your identity as a queen, how would your relationships, career, ministry, or daily interactions change?
Prayer: Lord, today I recognize that I don’t need anyone’s approval or permission to live out the calling You’ve placed on my life. Help me shift my focus from insecurity or passivity to the conviction that I was created for a divine purpose. Like Esther, I want to use what You’ve given me to bring justice, love, and hope to the situations around me. Teach me to walk in grace and courage, secure in Your love and presence. Amen.
