Alive and on Fire - a Video Devo With Illusionist, Dustin TavellaSample

Philippians 4:13 is probably one of the most quoted verses in the Bible. You've seen it on T-shirts, Instagram bios, locker posters—maybe you can recite it in your sleep. But sometimes, when we hear somethingtoooften, we stop paying attention to how powerful it really is.
This verse isn’t just a feel-good motivational quote. It’s a battle cry.
The Bible doesn’t sugarcoat life. Jesus literally tells us we will face trouble in this world. And because we live in a broken world, that trouble isn’t just a maybe—it’s a guarantee.
But here’s the hope: we are not left to face that trouble alone.
Through Christ, you have strength. Real, supernatural, not-from-this-world strength.
Here’s the Problem: The enemy knows how powerful you are in Christ—so he does everything he can to make you forget it.
If he can convince you that your strength is average, you’ll live an average life. If he can get you to keep your head down, you’ll stop walking in the authority that’s already yours. You’ll stop thriving and start just “getting through.”
But that’s not what you were made for. You were made to live boldly. You were made to live with your head high—not because of your power, but because of His.
Here’s the Challenge: You have to fight to remember who you are.
That doesn’t happen by accident. It takes effort. It takes work. And honestly, we work hard for the things that matter to us, right?
So let me challenge you:
- Set reminders on your phone to pray or read Scripture.
- Turn OFF social media notifications and turn ON your Bible app notifications.
- Write verses on your mirror or your bathroom wall.
- Leave sticky notes in your car, your office or your locker.
- Speak truth over yourself—out loud—even when you don’t feel it.
What could possibly be more important than remembering who you are and who God has called you to be?
Think About It:
- What lies have you believed about your strength or your identity?
- How would your life look different if you really believed you could do all things through Christ?
- What’s one step you can take today to remind yourself of who you are in Jesus?
Prayer You Can Pray:
Jesus, help me stop living like I’m powerless. Remind me that through You, I have strength to face anything. When life gets hard or overwhelming, help me remember that I don’t have to just survive—I can thrive with You. Give me the discipline to stay focused and the courage to live boldly. Amen.
Bottom Line: If life is going to be hard sometimes—and it will—then weneedstrength. Good thing we already have it. You’re not average. You’re not weak. You’re not alone. You can do all things through Christ—so live like it.
