Father’s Love: 30 Days of Discovering God as FatherSample

Day 3– A Protector
God our Father is a protector. Just as a father guards his children, God surrounds you with His protection daily. We see in Job 1:10 that even the devil recognized that God himself put a hedge of protection around Job and his family and everything that belonged to him. You may be wondering why bad things happen to people if God is protecting them. Psalm 34:7 (AMP) says, “The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear Him [with awe-inspired reverence and worship Him with obedience], And He rescues [each of] them.”
God protects those who worship Him, live in total reverence of who He is, and obey Him. Sin breaks that hedge of protection. Imagine a thief on his way to steal, asking God to protect him from getting caught. The truth is that prayer will not be answered by God. You might say, but nothing can separate us from God’s love as we discussed on day one. You are absolutely right. God doesn’t stop loving you or I because we sin, disobey Him, or walk away completely from Him. But just as you see with the story of the prodigal son in Luke 15:11-27, there is a price you pay when you are living in sin and out of God’s will.
Rest assured that no matter what happens, God knows how to turn every bad situation into our good. As you end today’s devotional, reflect on your relationship with Him. Do you obey His word, the Bible? Do you reverence Him? Do you spend time with Him in prayer? Ask the Holy Spirit, our Teacher to help you in this area.
Reflect on moments where God protected you from harm and journal them as testimonies of what He has done and will continue to do in your life.
Read, internalize, and pray each scripture to deepen your faith.
