Father’s Love: 30 Days of Discovering God as FatherSample

Day 1 – A Loving Father
Welcome to the next 30 days that will transform your life. My prayer is that as you walk through this devotional, you will discover or deepen an intimate, loving relationship with God as your Father, your Daddy. Together, we’ll explore 30 powerful characteristics of God revealed in Scripture, each showing why He is the perfect Father. As you read, invite the Holy Spirit to open your heart, embrace you in His love, and make Jesus real in a way that changes you forever. If possible, invite your earthly father to go through this devotional with you.
Throughout these 30 days, I’ll share parts of my story and why this devotional matters so deeply to me. Above all, it’s about truly, deeply, and intimately knowing our Heavenly Father by revelation. I will also refer to God as Father or Daddy many times so you can get used to calling him those names without cringing.
I, like so many people in the world did not have the best example of an earthly father. This has greatly and negatively affected my view and perception of God as Father. I was raised by a single mother and in 41 years; I’ve only seen my father face to face three times. Growing up, I was plagued by feelings of insecurity, abandonment, rejection, and shame coupled with sexual abuse and molestation. These led to people pleasing, performance-based living, toxic friendships and relationships with men, low self-esteem, timidity and so much more. It took me years of prayer, fasting, and therapy to even refer to God as Father, let alone Daddy.
Today’s focus is seeing God as a loving Father.“See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God” (1 John 3:1, NIV). His love isn’t measured—it overflows. Nothing and no one can separate you from it (Romans 8:35–39). His love is freely given, never earned. God loves you so much that he sacrificed Jesus on the cross so He can have a relationship with you here on earth and in eternity. There’s nothing you’ve done in the past, present or will do in the future to make God hate you. I want you to believe that. Satan loves to bring condemnation when you sin, and the first thing he does is make you feel that God is mad at you and doesn’t love you, that’s a blatant lie from the father of all lies! (John 8:44). God’s love for you is absolutely unconditional forever!
Spend 10 minutes today thinking about all the ways he’s shown you his love and thank him for it.
Read, internalize, and pray each scripture to deepen your faith.

About this Plan

So many know God only through the lenses of their upbringing and unfortunately, some people only know Him by whatever false religion and human doctrines have boxed him in to be. Few people truly know and experience Him as Father and Daddy. This 30-day devotional invites you into the heart and many wonderful characteristics of God that will lead you deeper into His embrace, helping you see Him in a new light and truly come to Him at all times with boldness and confidence.
