Restoring Your Soul - Living a Limitless Life

DAY 25 OF 30

Releasing Yourself

Forgiveness is often discussed in the context of letting go of the hurt caused by others, but what about the pain we carry from our own poor choices? Sometimes the hardest person to forgive is ourselves. Forgiving yourself is just as vital for emotional, spiritual, and relational health as forgiving those who have wronged you.

Many of us struggle with guilt, shame, or regret. We replay our past mistakes, criticize ourselves for decisions we made, and sometimes believe we are undeserving of love or grace. Yet Scripture reminds us that God’s forgiveness is not just for those who hurt us, but also for us. In 1 John 1:9, we are promised: “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” God’s forgiveness invites us to release self-condemnation and step into His freedom.

The journey to forgiveness is a process. It begins with honesty: acknowledging the hurt, feeling the emotions, and releasing the desire for revenge or perfection. Then comes surrender: entrusting the situation, and in this case yourself, to God’s healing hands.

Forgiveness doesn’t mean you condone the wrong you did or forget the pain. It means you choose peace over self-hatred and judgment, freedom over bondage.

Holding onto guilt or shame prevents us from experiencing God’s grace fully. Our soul restoration will be incomplete if we can’t forgive ourselves. It is impossible to be fully alive and at peace if you hold yourself hostage in unforgiveness. When you choose to forgive, you make space for healing, restoration, and joy.

I Invite You to Ask Yourself:

  1. What past mistake or failure am I struggling to overcome?
  2. How has carrying guilt shaped the way I see myself?
  3. What might change for me if I could receive God’s forgiveness for myself?

Make time and space to go through the same forgiveness process for yourself as we discussed yesterday regarding forgiving others. You’ll be glad you did!

I Invite You to Pray:

Lord, help me to fully embrace Your forgiveness. Teach me to see myself through Your mercy and not through my shame. Walk with me as I forgive myself, release myself from judgment and speak a Blessing over myself. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

About this Plan

Restoring Your Soul - Living a Limitless Life

Do you identify with "the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak?" If so, you're not alone. This 30-day Bible reading plan focuses on how to partner with God to restore our souls. We can renew our minds, submit our wills (submit isn't as scary a word as you might think), and heal our emotions. I invite you to join me in learning to walk more fully in the Spirit, instead of being governed by our flesh. Your limitless life awaits!
