Restoring Your Soul - Living a Limitless LifeSample

Alignment of Spirit, Soul and Body
On Day 2 of this devotional, we discussed how God created us with three distinct aspects: spirit, soul, and body. While we’ve been focusing on the soul: submitting our will, renewing our mind, and healing our emotions, it’s also important to recognize how the spirit, soul and body are meant to function together in alignment.
When God created us, His design was that our spirit (the part of us that connects with Him) would lead. Our soul (our mind, will, and emotions) was meant to follow the spirit’s lead, and our body was meant to submit to the soul.
Too often, our bodies drive our choices through cravings, fatigue, or unhealthy habits. Other times, our souls lead the way. We allow our emotions or stubborn will to dictate our steps instead of God’s truth. But when we allow our spirit, led by God’s Spirit, to take its rightful place, everything else can come into order.
When our souls are submitted to our spirit, and our bodies submitted to our soul, we give God’s Spirit direct access to shape us from the inside out. His wisdom can flow into our spirit, influence our thoughts, heal our emotions, and guide our will. From there, even our physical lives, how we act, speak, and treat our bodies, begin to reflect His restoring power.
When we discuss walking in the Spirit or being led by the Spirit, rather than walking in the flesh, we’re really talking about alignment. God’s design is vertical: our body is supposed to be submitted to our soul, our soul submitted to our spirit, our spirit submitted to His Spirit. When this order is in place, we are positioned to receive life and direction the way He intended.
This is what it means to walk in the Spirit: not striving in our own strength but staying aligned so that God’s Spirit flows freely through us, helping us face the daily challenges of restoring our souls. If, however, we are out of alignment and we allow our soul or body to be on top, we will walk in the flesh. God's Spirit can't speak into our unregenerated soul or body, so He can't lead us if we allow our soul or body to be in the dominant position.
Alignment is key. It’s not about striving for perfection, but about surrender, allowing God’s Spirit to lead, so we can access ALL of Him to help in the restoring process.
Questions to Ponder:
1. Can you tell the difference when you are walking in the Spirit instead of the Flesh?
2. How can you remind yourself to ask God to align your body, soul, and spirit so that you can walk in the Spirit?
Prayer of Alignment:
God, I thank You that You have made a way for me to walk in the Spirit, not in the Flesh. I choose today to submit my spirit to Your Spirit, to submit my soul to my spirit and by body to my soul. Please line me up so that I can receive Your Truth directly from Your Spirit into mine. Help me to become aware when I am out of alignment and need to adjust to hear You more clearly. Thank You for partnering with me. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
