Take Courage

The disciples are in the middle of a storm, waves tossing the boat, fear rising high. Then they see a figure walking on the water — and instead of being relieved, they panic, thinking it’s a ghost. But it’s Jesus. And before He calms the storm, before Peter even steps out of the boat, He speaks: “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.”

This verse shows us something powerful — peace doesn’t start when the storm stops. Peace starts when Jesus speaks. Sometimes He won’t remove the storm immediately, but He will remind you of who He is in the middle of it. “It is I.” In other words, “Don’t let the storm define this moment. My presence is here, and that changes everything.”

Fear loses its grip when you realize the One who commands the winds and the waves is with you. Jesus doesn’t just tell us not to be afraid; He gives us a reason —Himself.

I’ve stepped into scary places, wondering if I’d sink. It's especially scary when God calls you to do something you have never seen done before. But each time, His presence kept me standing. God gave me the plan and the confidence to walk out what He has given me. His word held me up when fear tried to drown me.

When fear rises, listen for God's voice above the waves. Remember your peace is not in calmer waters but in the Christ who walks on them. Do one thing today that scares you but honors God. Say to yourself: “Take courage, Jesus is with me.” Don't wait for the storm to stop to find courage -- find it In God's presence.
