Peace in the Storm

DAY 1 OF 30

God Sees Me

Hagar was a servant girl, mistreated, abandoned, and overlooked when she discovered God as El Roi. She found herself in the wilderness — rejected by people, but not forgotten by God. God didn’t just notice her; He pursued her with promise. That’s the beauty of God—He specializes in meeting us when no one else does. He is not distant in our pain; He is the One who calls us seen.

God doesn’t just see the crowd, He sees the individual. He doesn’t just notice nations, He notices you. He saw Hagar in the desert when everyone else dismissed her, and if He saw her, He surely sees you.

God didn’t just see Hagar’s situation — He saw her future. He gave her a promise about her son, Ishmael, and spoke life into what looked like a dead situation. Sometimes we think God only sees us when we’re doing well, when we’re “in position,” when everything looks blessed and put together, but Genesis 16 shows us He sees us even in the wilderness.

I’ve had seasons where I felt overlooked while still showing up strong for everyone else. Just like Hagar I had to show up for my family and the other responsibilities I had while still going through my own storm. I wondered if God had forgotten me. In the moments when I wanted to disappear, God's truth anchored me. He reminded me through His Word that His eyes never left me, even when my heart felt invisible. Sometimes he spoke audibly to me and other times He allowed the very thing I was burdened by to reach a solution.

I want to encourage you today with the same message: GOD SEES YOU! He has not left you, he has not forgotten you, he sees what is happening around and to you, and he WILL sustain you. No matter what pressures of life are around you, remain confident that the God of all creation, also created a solution to what you're going through. The more you seek and focus on God, the more help you see around you.

Today, whisper these words throughout your day: “God sees me.” Write it down somewhere you’ll see it often. When feelings of invisibility rise, replace them with this truth.

His eyes are on you, and His presence surrounds you.
