Peace in the Storm

DAY 4 OF 30

Joy Comes in the Morning

David is testifying here that the hard season doesn’t have the final say. Yes, we experience tears, loss, and discipline, but those things are temporary. God’s favor is permanent. His love outweighs His anger, and His joy outlives our sorrow.

That phrase “weeping may endure for the night” means grief has a check-out time. Darkness may linger, but it cannot stay forever. And “joy comes in the morning” isn’t just about the rising of the sun; it’s about the faithfulness of God. Morning represents a shift — a new season, a fresh start, a reminder that God’s promises outlast our pain.

Sometimes the “night” feels long. We cry, we wrestle, we ask questions, and it seems like the joy is delayed. But this verse anchors us —your night is not endless, and your morning is already on the way. God has already scheduled your breakthrough.

I’ve cried through many seasons where I couldn’t see past the pain. The pain I was experiencing during those times felt unending. But every single time, God sent joy—even if it was in the form of small reminders, laughter with family, or His Word coming alive again. His joy always broke through.

I want to encourage you to go through the pain but keep looking for the joy. Feel what you need to feel, speak honestly with God about your pains and problems; your honesty isn't an insult to God. And when you start to feel joy, even a little of it... lean into it and embrace it fully. Don't allow the enemy (the devil) to lure you back into a dark or depressive state. Don’t let the night convince you that morning isn’t coming. Maintain the joy you have until more comes! Your tears are temporary, but God’s favor is eternal.

Write down one area where you are believing God for joy to return. Every time discouragement rises, remind yourself: “This is just night. Morning is coming.” The same God who allowed the tears will also usher in the joy.
