Peace in the Storm

DAY 5 OF 30

God Is My Provider

This moment comes right after one of the most intense tests of Abraham’s faith. God told him to sacrifice his son Isaac — the son of promise. Abraham obeyed, even though it didn’t make sense. But just as he raised the knife, God stopped him and provided a ram in the bush as the substitute sacrifice. Abraham names the place Jehovah Jireh— “The Lord Will Provide.”

This name isn’t just about a ram; it’s about a revelation. Abraham learned that God doesn’t just provide randomly — He provides right on time and right where you need Him. Notice, the provision wasn’t released until Abraham walked up the mountain in obedience. Sometimes we want God to provide before we take the first step, but faith says, “I trust You enough to climb, even when I don’t see the ram yet.”

This verse reminds us that God’s provision is tied to His purpose. If He called you to it, He will provide for it. Jehovah Jireh is not just a title; it’s a testimony.

I’ve faced moments where I looked at my needs and thought, “There’s no way.” But I’ve watched God show up through unexpected provision. I kept trusting God and did all I knew to do, and looked back at the situations I once questioned to see that God met every need. Each time, He reminded me that He—not my paycheck, not people—is my ultimate Source.

Take one need that’s been stressing you out. Instead of worrying, lift it to Jehovah Jireh in prayer. Say: “Lord, I trust You to provide for this in Your timing.” Remember God may not show you the ram until you step onto the mountain. Obedience positions you to see God's provision. Trust that if God required it, He has already prepared a way to provide for it.
