Unleashing the Wind: Joining in God’s Mission

God invites us to open ourselves to God’s work in the world. The Spirit is constantly moving, calling us to participate in God’s mission to make disciples in a more caring and just world. This invitation to join God in God’s mission happens in big moments and in everyday interactions. This invitation can come when we are engaging with our family, friends, neighbors, coworkers, or even strangers. Most often, in our daily activities, God’s Spirit moves through us, inviting us to be agents of hope and possibility wherever we are.

We are not sent on God’s mission on our own. The Holy Spirit is already at work around us, and we are invited to join in that work. The Spirit empowers us, using even our smallest acts of kindness to bring about change. Our role is to be open and willing, trusting that as we follow the Spirit’s lead, God will bring transformation to the people and places around us.

As we respond to this call, let us remember that the same Spirit who empowered the early church is with us now. The Spirit fills us with courage to engage in the world with hope and boldness. May we be attentive to the ways we can contribute to God’s mission, knowing that every act of faithfulness, no matter how small, is significant to God.

Prayer

Loving God, thank you for inviting me to be part of your mission in the world. Open my eyes to the opportunities around me to share your love and serve others. Give me the courage to step out in faith, trusting that you are already at work. Use me to bring care, hope, love, and justice to those I encounter, and empower me to make disciples to expand the family of God. Amen.

Identify one way to actively join God in God’s mission. It could be reaching out to someone in need, advocating in your community, or simply offering a kind word to someone struggling. Pray for guidance, then act, no matter how small it may seem. Trust that God can use you!
