Life-Giving Wind for Our Leadership: Supporting Leaders We Love

Leaders in our churches and communities carry the weight of guiding us in faith, and their work can be both inspiring and challenging. The Holy Spirit continually breathes life into those who lead, refreshing and sustaining them in their roles. However, leadership is not a mantle leaders are meant to carry alone. As members of the body of Christ, we are called to stand alongside and offer support, encouragement, and prayer.

Just as Aaron and Hur lifted Moses’s arms during a time of need, we, too, are invited to lift up the hands of those who lead us. This can be done in many ways—through prayer, offering words of encouragement rather than criticism, or helping with tasks that lighten their load. When we support our leaders, we participate in God’s work, ensuring they can continue to lead with strength, joy, and endurance. We are all part of a unified mission, and our role in supporting leaders helps the entire body of Christ thrive.

We also invite the Spirit to work through us as we stand with our leaders. The same Spirit who refreshes our leaders refreshes us, allowing us to serve with love and commitment. In doing so, we participate in creating a healthy, vibrant community where everyone plays a part in moving the church forward in its mission.

Prayer

God, thank you for the leaders you have placed in my life. Refresh and strengthen them with your Spirit. Help me to be a source of support and encouragement, showing love and offering my prayers as they serve faithfully. May we work together to fulfill your mission. Amen.
