Walk Like You’re New

Have you ever worn an outfit that no longer fits who you are? Many Christians struggle because they’ve been made new in Christ, but still walk in old patterns, old beliefs, and old narratives. Paul says to put off the old self and put on the new (Eph. 4:22–24).

This isn’t faking it until you make it. It’s acting in alignment with the identity Jesus already gave you.

Transformation begins where faith meets obedience. You don’t wait to “feel new” before walking like you’re new. You walk in truth, and the feelings catch up. Paul gives four practices that reinforce the new self:

1. Live in Truth.
Lies harden the heart. Truth keeps it tender.

2. Guard Your Heart.
Unresolved anger opens doors to spiritual attack.

3. Work to Serve.
The new self doesn’t take, it contributes.

4. Speak Life.
Your words build up or tear down, nothing in between.

When you walk in the new, you aren’t earning identity but expressing it. The more you live from the new self, the more you believe it. And the more you believe it, the more you walk in it.

Today, take a step. Don’t wait to feel different. Dress in the identity you already have.

Jesus, thank You for making me new. Help me put off what no longer belongs and put on the identity You gave me. Renew my mind and reshape my walk. Amen.
