Heart for the HouseExemplo
An Inclusive House
Bobbie Houston
We are living in a day of grace and the prevailing words over the Gospel invitation of the church to the world should be, “Come as you are—you are welcome here!” Having said that, grace will never leave us as we are, but will always begin a work of transforming us into His likeness.
“You belong here” are words definitely within the fabric of faith’s DNA. There are no exclusion clauses in heaven’s invitation, and all people need to know they belong. A person’s color, creed, culture, background, persuasion, sin, or past failings should not exclude them from discovering their personal worth and true personhood in Christ.
Sadly, not all professing Christians think like this. I’m not talking about compromising what is scriptural and pure (because the last page in the Bible does say that what is unholy will not enter into heaven), but until that notable day, the tenor of Scripture is full of saving grace toward the sinner.
Our mandate is to cross every divide with the same compassion as Christ, and then graciously point people to the One who is well able to reveal all. Redemption is ongoing, so let’s allow God to do the redeeming while we do the loving.
