DAY 19 OF 41

ADMITTING FAILURE

Had Peter not promised to stay with Jesus and if needed even to die for him? He was the only disciple that followed Jesus into the lion’s den. But then he lost his courage. He got cold feet and lied.

An even more emotional detail can be found in Luke 22: Jesus looked straight into Peter’s eyes when he denied him.

This look no longer left Peter’s mind. He totally failed. He was no longer useful. Frustrated and broken, Peter finished this chapter with Jesus and went back to fishing.

Where have your failed? Where do you feel unworthy of being used by God? Where do you feel you have missed an opportunity?

However, Jesus’ story with Peter was not over yet. When he met him again about 2-3 weeks later, he simply asked Peter one question: “Do you love me?”

It is not about your faith, qualities, faithfulness or that you have never failed … it is only about your love. Jesus wants to take care of the rest. Jesus wants to refill you with his love, faith, strength, joy. Just as with Peter, your story with Jesus is nowhere near finished.

ACTION STEP:

“The best time for a new beginning, is when you are at your wit’s end.”

Has the time come to confess your failures to Jesus? – Tell Jesus today that you love him. And it if helps you, do it three times. Do this with a confidence that your story with Jesus has not finished yet.

About this Plan

#JESUS2018 - Daily Devotionals

For many people Easter is merely a nice spring festival. However, the origin of Easter is powerful and relevant for all people. During this time, we celebrate that Jesus died and resurrected for us. By doing this, something incredible happened. In this reading plan we want to engage ourselves with the last 24 hours in the life of Jesus. Jesus’ death on the cross is not the end, but the beginning of something totally new. For each one of us. – “Because I live, you also will live.” John 14:19
